Logicomix by Apostolos Doxiadis and Christos H. Papadimitriou
This must be the third time I read Logicomix. It was also the first graphic novel I read. I wouldn't pick it up if it wasn't for Apostolos Doxiadis and his book Uncle Petros and Goldbach’s Conjecture, a terrific book that tells the story of a brilliant mathematician who devotes his life to solving a notoriously difficult problem.
I loved Logicomix. It's a great introduction to Bertrand Russell, his work in logic and the foundations of mathematics and his futile attempt to find definitive answers to everything. In its agonised search for absolute truth, Russell crosses paths with the great thinkers of the era like, Alfred Whitehead, Gottlob Frege, David Hilbert, Kurt Gödel and of course, Ludwig Wittgenstein, who became his student. There is a lot of logic and math in it , but it is fairly easy to read and you can get through this probably in a day , if you are a fast reader.
I absolutely loved the artwork by Alecos Papadatos and Annie Di Donna. A wonderful book, an intellectual adventure about ideas, love and war, reason and madness.
